Dion Peita (Te Rārawa, Ngāti Te Ata Waiohua, Ngāti Tīpa) joined the Strategic Growth Directorate, UniServices in September 2022 as its first Manutaki Whanaketanga Umanga Māori | Māori Business Development Director. Dion brings with him an extensive background in First Nations and Indigenous governance, engagement, practice and participation.
Dion’s most recent role was the Executive Director Tumuaki Māori and Pacific Development with the Auckland Museum, delivering improved executive leadership particularly in the field of indigenous governance, practice and research, Iwi and Pasifika engagement. This led to to active collaborations to reconnect and connect important taonga and research with communities of origin. Dion recently completed a PGDipBus in Māori Development at the University of Auckland Business School.
Dion is passionate about the Arts, Archaeology, Conservation, Museology, Māori Development, and Te Taiao (the Natural Environment).
